Wilkesboro Wreck Injures One

An apparent street racing incident led to one person being injured in a crash on US 421 in Wilkesboro Monday night. Wilkesboro Police say there were several people in 19-year old Christopher Lee Foster's car; one of the passengers, Christopher Todd Collins, was taken by ambulance to Wilkes regional Medical Center. According to the wreck report, Foster and another vehicle were traveling east on 421 near Winkler Mill when the other driver tapped his brakes. Foster says he tried to whip the car to the right to avoid hitting the other driver. He over-corrected, sending the car into a skid and across the median, where it overturned, coming to rest on its top. Foster was ticketed for reckless driving and for not having a current inspection sticker; the other driver left the scene and has not been identified.
