BROC Raises $45k Through Little Miss and Miss CAG Contests

The Blue Ridge Opportunity Commission has raised more than 45-thousand dollars, through the efforts of contestants in the annual Miss CAG and the Little Miss Princess contests. Winners were announced at an event Friday night. Teresa Martin won the Miss CAG title this year, raising a total of nearly 91-hundred dollars. The four contestants in the Miss CAG pageant raised a total of more than 19-thousand dollars. Seven-year-old Hailey Peacock won the Little Miss Princess award Friday night. She is the daughter of Jessica Nelson and Michael Prevette, and she raised a total of almost 66-hundred dollars. Donations from businesses, advertising sales and other contributions brought the total raised to just a bit over 45-thousand dollars. The Journal-Patriot reports the Miss CAG pageant has been held annually for the last 35 years in Wilkes County, and the Little Miss Princess pageant has been held in Wilkes for the last 27 years.
