Man Arrested for Stealing from Employer

Wilkesboro police have arrested a Union grove man after he allegedly bagged up merchandise for friends at the convenience store where he worked, and let them leave without paying for it. earl Johnson was arrested without incident at the Run-In on Oakwoods, after loss prevention personnel with the chain called police when they noticed inventory shortages while he was working. Police were called to the store early this morning, where they were shown a video tape of Johnson, four times in the first hour or so of his shift, bagged up merchandise for friends and handed it to them without ringing up the transaction or taking any money. The loss listed for last night alone is 40-dollars of alcoholic beverages and food items. When confronted by the video, Johnson admitted to what had happened and wrote a short confession, according to the crime report. He was jailed on a charge of Felony Larceny by Employee, and is held on a 2-thousand dollar secured bond.
