Items Stolen From Man During Merlefest

Wilkesboro police are working a delayed report of a crime that allegedly happened during Merlefest. Lee Boohur reported last weekend that while he was at the event in Wilkesboro in April, someone stole his cell phone, a batter for a motorized wheelchair, and his driver's license. He had the items with him when he boarded a bus to the site, but they were gone when he got to the site. He reported it to lost and found and to security people on site that day, but it was never turned in. When his wife went to deactivate her phone, she found it had been used to make a number of calls. When the bill arrived last weekend, many of those calls turned out to be to a number in Granite Falls, but there were a number of shorter calls, too. Police hope to use those to trace down who may have the phone another items. Total loss is valued at about 350-dollars.
