An Easter egg hunt turned into a frightening time for one Wilkes family, when their neighbor across the street stepped outside with a rifle and threatened to shoot two dogs that were being noisy. Deputies say the family was hiding eggs in their yard on Byrd Ridge Road Sunday afternoon when the incident happened. Two teen-aged kids, a four-year old and a five-year old were outside. The teens had dogs with them, and the dogs began to roughhouse, barking and disturbing the neighbor across the street, 41-year old Coy Edward Pack. He came outside, pointed the rifle at the dogs, and threatened to shoot them. The mother, rightfully, got scared and took the young children inside. One of the teens, Joesky Barnes, confronted Pack in the roadway, and just as the two really started arguing, they heard the sirens of deputies responding and broke it up, each going back inside. Both ended up being arrested, Pack for carrying the gun outside and scaring the family, and Barnes for an outstanding warrant. Pack, who is a convicted felon, was also charged with possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.
